Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect what we need to do the work, we don't sell it, and you can ask us what we have.
Last updated August 2026
This policy covers Modern One Technologies, LLC, doing business as Modern Technologies, at 300 East High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. It applies to this website, to work we do at the shop, and to services we provide to businesses. Below, "we" and "us" mean that company.
What we collect
We collect what we need to do the work and reach you about it. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Your name, phone number, email address, and postal or billing address.
- The device you brought in, what's wrong with it, what we did, and what we charged. That record includes serial numbers and other identifiers on the equipment itself.
- Payment details. Card payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Messages you send us, and notes from calls and counter conversations, so the next person who picks up your ticket knows what you already told us.
- For business clients, whatever managing your systems requires, handled on your instructions and set out in the agreement we sign with you.
Information on devices you leave with us
Repairing a computer or a phone means we can often see what's on it. We look at your files only as far as the work requires, we don't copy anything off your device except when you've asked us to move or recover your data, and we don't share what we see. Anything we copy for a data transfer or recovery is deleted from our equipment once you've confirmed you have it and the job is closed.
Bring us a device that isn't yours to hand over and we may have to stop work. The repair terms cover that, along with backups and what happens to data during a repair.
What this website does today
As of August 2026: this site runs no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no cross-site tracking. It sets no cookies of any kind. Fonts and images are served from this site, and the page loads nothing from anyone else. There is no form to fill in, no account to create, and no login. A browser security policy we publish with the site enforces that last part, so a tracker cannot be added here by accident.
We do expect that to change as we add things like online booking or a customer portal. When it does, this paragraph is the part that gets rewritten, and the date above changes with it.
Why we have it
To do the work you asked for, to quote and bill it, to reach you about it, to keep records our accountant and the tax authorities expect, to protect against fraud, and to run and secure our own systems. If we ever want to use your information to market to you, we'll ask first, and you can tell us to stop at any time.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do use outside companies to run parts of the business, things like payment processing, accounting, ticketing, and email, and they see only what their job requires. Parts suppliers see what a warranty claim needs and nothing else.
We also share information when the law requires it, when we need it to enforce our agreements or collect a bill, or when a person's safety is at stake. If the business is ever sold or merged, customer records may move with it, and this policy follows them.
How long we keep it
Service and billing records stay as long as we need them for warranty questions, disputes, and the record-keeping the tax authorities require. Data we hold temporarily as part of a job, like a copy made for a transfer or a recovery, is deleted once the job is closed and you have your data. Ask us to delete something sooner and we will, unless we're required to keep it.
Your choices
Ask us what we have on file and we'll tell you. Ask us to correct it or delete it and we'll do that too, within what the law lets us keep. You don't need to live in a particular state to ask. Where the law gives you specific rights over your information, including the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted or corrected, to receive a copy, and not to be discriminated against for asking, we honor them.
We will never require you to create an account or pay a different price because you exercised one of those rights.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian bringing in a child's device is the customer of record.
Security
We protect customer information with the same care we'd put in front of a client, and we limit access to the people who need it. No one can promise a system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as required by law, and we'll tell you plainly.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we'll do more than change a date.
Questions
Ask us anything about your information, or make a request under this policy, by email or phone. You can also write to us at 300 East High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101, or stop by during business hours.
