We're downtown across from the courthouse. Come by during business hours and somebody takes it at the counter.
We find out what's wrong
It goes on the bench and we find the actual fault. What failed is not always what it looks like from the outside.
You hear the price before we start

The same family has owned this shop since 2002.
Almost everything about this work has changed since the doors opened. What hasn't is how you get treated at the counter.
When the honest answer and the profitable one differ, you get the honest one.
The whole story
The shop opened in Jefferson City in 2002. Before that there was a smaller version of it in Florida fixing car stereos, televisions and VCRs, in years when a computer was the odd job.
Every one of those trades has since ended. So has most of what replaced them. The bench has gone from towers to laptops to phones, and now to board-level work on machines that were never meant to be opened at all.
The name was chosen against exactly that. Something broad enough to still fit whatever the work turned into, picked by someone who had already watched one trade disappear out from under him. It has been asked to stretch more than once.
Where it goes next is the same direction it has always gone: further into the work most shops send away. If it plugs in and somebody needs it working, the intent is to be the place that can.
Founded in 2002 by Kevin, with Gary as a partner for the first thirteen years. Kevin's sons Brandon and Cody joined in 2016 and 2022.

Great experience with ModernTech. My laptop had a bulging swollen battery. Kevin got the battery out, gave me a recommendation for where to order a new one at a reasonable price and showed me how to install it when it arrives. Very professional and helpful. Will definitely go back!
This is definitely the place to go for all things computer related. Their customer service is first rate. They will give you a quote promptly and will complete the work just as promptly.
Knowledgeable, polite. As an older nontechnical person they did not make me feel stupid. Brought my computer in on Tuesday and it was ready Thursday. Prices reasonable. I recommend them and will be back in the future.
My first experience with Modern Technologies and I'm very pleased! I had an odd request with needing a soldering modification needing completed on an old video game console. Brandon called the day after I dropped it off saying it was already ready for pickup. Couldn't be happier with their service!

Look for the brick building on the corner of East High and Monroe, directly across from the county courthouse. Our entrance faces the corner, and there's metered street parking out front and along the side streets.
No steps, but the older outer door and a short incline are easier with a hand. Call ahead and we'll be watching for you, or come out to meet you.

- No appointment. Walk in during business hours and somebody will look at it.
- Bring the charger or power adapter if the machine has one.
- Bring the password or passcode. We can't test a repair on something we can't log into.
